Hole
Formed in Los Angeles in 1989 by Courtney Love and Eric Erlandson, Hole combined punk urgency with noisy alternative rock and sharply personal songwriting. The albums Pretty on the Inside, Live Through This, and Celebrity Skin traced the band’s evolution from underground provocation to major-label impact. Songs such as “Doll Parts,” “Violet,” and “Malibu” helped make Hole a defining voice of the 1990s alternative scene.
